The Reader.
The reader is not just a “receiver” of information in learning he or she is a meaning-making inquirer. He or she is someone who is interested in the reader’s curiosity, background knowledge, and questions. When it comes to a good reader, One must be proactive and critical, able to find gaps in the writer's reasoning and assumptions and decide whether to accept or reject them. One must also be able to write, speak, and experiment in order to apply what one has learned elsewhere. Such a reader should be portrayed as someone who goes from saying "I read the book" to asking "What changed in my thinking today?"
